Subject-Verb Agreement:

Basic Rules:

Every sentence must have a subject and a verb.

The subject is the noun that performs the action expressed by a verb.

A noun is a word that gives a name to a person, place or thing.

A sentence may have many nouns, and many verbs.

However, 

each sentence must have one and only one “subject” and one “main verb” 

So, what is subject-verb agreement?

The subject and the verb must make sense together.

It must be clear and unambiguous that the “subject” is doing the “main verb”

The subject and the verb must agree in number.

A singular subject requires a singular verb form.

A plural subject requires a plural verb form.
